he says these days i don't even really want to be here  i'm reaching the point where i think i might flee dear seems i might be having trouble telling friend from a fiend please don't tell me everything happens for a reason with the air still hanging so heavy with treason seems like maybe your ideology is open season on me so now i'll speak so loud i'll be allowed she said these days i don't even really want to be here those cretins cut down our wedding tree dear flinging pieces of little tiny existential debris waking, dreaming biting my tongue til it's bleeding its freezing its two hundred degrees   discretely keeping our shady history under lock and key so now i'll speak so loud i'll scream aloud i'll scream so loud

you wanted freedom more than you wanted life you were denied you were denied might have failed left to your own device but you never tried no you never tried you'll sit out in the parking lot and never go inside until you decide that a woman's not worth your pride i'm right here were you left me met a man with eyes like metal spires full of lies he was dead inside swore you'd never leave me there to die but here I lie, here i lie and they'll tear away at you each day as you desperately oblige until you decide that the moneys not worth your life i'm right here where you left me i spent a lifetime trying to get inside you were so callous you're oblivious take the time to look inside your mind i'm sure you'll find you were always mine you can shove me in a corner pretend that everything's all right  you can try to be a businessman and a dull suburbanite until you decide you've had enough of that disguise i'm right here where you left me

Miracles 04:20
not quite sure what to think when faced with my own vanity guess i'll just try and go to sleep we never did believe in miracles you never did believe in anything so i protect myself  with shallow mediocrity i've learned to make myself look clean just don't look underneath the rug my dear don't look too far beyond the cool veneer i'll disappear i can't hide i can't fight   and here we are you see we've learned to love our enemies we're just so fucking pure and clean we never learned to handle suffering we were never taught to deal with anything and here in silence we will dance around this reckoning it's all good as long as we don't speak we never did believe in miracles i never did believe in anything in anything   i can't hide i can't fight   here in these frozen halls the silences are deafening you can pray to god but god won't hear a thing we never did believe in miracles we never did believe in anything in anything

not sure what to do with myself lately me and all my friends we're just so weird guess we'll hang on on the beach make some babies raise em up in the land of engineers we'll put down roots somewhere sandy  close to everything that we hold dear maybe take a couple flights of fancy but we'll end up back in the land of engineers seems like everything's gone hazy thousand pounds of concrete between my ears work so hard grow so lazy  living in the land of engineers the war machine is always hungry it feeds on all our most terrific fears but i keep my head down take the money working in the land of engineers you don't ever have to grow up baby you won't ever need to face your fears just buy a guitar pretend like its the eighties rocking steady in the land of engineers they're selling off the pieces of our kingdom bit by bit we watch it disappear til there's nothing left but parking lots and freedom i'm saying goodbye to the land of engineers
